BMPCA placed 10 proposals to reform Teletalk
Bangladesh Mobile Phone Consumers Association-BMPCA, a civic organization dedicated to the interests and protection of consumers rights, has demanded a quick investigation into the 'corruption and injustice' of the 5G project by stopping the 'buyers' of selling the state-owned mobile operator Teletalk to the private sector. On Thursday, the organization made a 10-point proposal to the interim government to reform Teletalk.
In this proposal signed by the president of the organization Mohiuddin Ahmed on Thursday says, since the beginning of the journey, Teletalk Bangladesh Limited has not been able to reflect the hopes and aspirations of the people of the country and the reasons behind this have been highlighted. It has been said that the mobile operator has not been able to meet the needs of the people of the country due to the negative attitude of the previous political government towards Teletalk including limited 4G network, indifference to field sales activities, weak administrative structure, lack of transparency and so on.
In order to meet the public demand, the organization has been called upon to reform the board of directors of Teletalk to include persons skilled in the management of technical and business activities related to the telecommunication sector as well as to refrain from appointing officials of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) to Teletalk.
Also, various demands have been highlighted in the proposal, including changing the name of Teletalk to 'Bangladesh Teletalk', reforming the administrative structure of Teletalk, changing the defective battery and keeping the tower operational all the time, considering the interests of the customers and launching phone calls and data packages without a fixed period at a low cost.
